David M. Cantor, Cantor Consulting, LLC.
Dave has over 35 years of experience consulting on the design, administration and funding of 401(k) plans, qualified and non-qualified pension plans including 30 years of experience consulting regarding broad-based employee ownership of company stock. After retiring from Mercer in late 2009, Dave founded Cantor Consulting LLC to focus on ESOP and retirement design consulting.
Dave’s activities at Mercer included:
- In 1993 and 1994 he was a member of Mercer's US Retirement Practice Group which provides direction to Mercer's overall retirement and investment consulting activities
- In 1994 and 1995, Dave served as chairman of a task force to develop Mercer’s Get There Investment Education and Retirement Planning Software
- In 2008 and 2009 Dave was a member of Mercer’s Actuarial Resource Network - a group of senior actuaries that provides technical guidance on actuarial issues to Mercer’s consultants
- Between 2004 and 2009 Dave was a member of the Editorial Board for the monthly Mercer publication – A Mercer Perspective on Retirement. Dave was the primary author of the August 2004 issue “The Role of Company Stock in a Defined Contribution Plan”, the August 2005 issue “Retirement Education is not Enough” and the March 2008 Global Perspective “East Meets West: The Challenges of Cross-Border M&As”
Dave received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He also holds masters degrees from Boston University in Mathematics and from Northeastern University in Actuarial Science and is an Enrolled Actuary. Although Dave held many other actuarial credentials (including Fellow – Society of Actuaries), he has let those credentials become inactive since his current consulting practice focuses on ESOP consulting and retirement design issues not requiring actuarial certifications.
